A comprehensive course of the most common Latin morphemes in the English language
CORE LESSON OVERVIEW
Let’s take a look at the sequence of activities that make up the Core Lessons of each of the morpheme lessons in each set pack of The Morphology Kit™ Latin Progression.
Typically, Core Lessons for prefix and base elements follow a 5-step routine (with an extra step for assimilated/chameleon prefixes):
Review previously learned morphemes (if using the MK LP).
Introduce the new target morpheme without the student seeing it: say it, spell it, and brainstorm words containing it.
Highlight the target morpheme and read example words. Discuss words and explore the sense of meaning of the target morpheme.
Construct words from parts and deconstruct words into parts.
Create words from parts and use them in sentences.
Suffixes are explicitly taught. Students practice reading, spelling, and pronouncing words containing suffixes. We’ll highlight the suffix Core Lesson samples below.
